After breaking my back in December 2015 I was looking for a way to get back on the water and a bit of a challenge. I came from an extensive background in whitewater kayaking and instruction and had been lucky enough to cross paths with Sam in his early stages of Canterbury kayaking. A lot of people think being a whitewater kayaker jumping in a multi sport boat is easy. I found it to be quite the contrary. Sam helped me develop my forward stroke from a whitewater stroke into a very effective and efficient multi sport technique. He also helped me understand the physics behind the wing paddle, making this process make a lot more sense. Throughout my training, Sam was able to offer advice and services on gear, training, shuttles as well as good ideas on how to stay comfortable in my boat and staying hydrated and feed along the way. Thanks Sam it is awesome to see Canterbury Kayaking stamping its mark and offering top notch instruction in all aspects of kayaking!
