Canterbury Kayaking Bookings Terms and Conditions

Training Courses (Core Skills, Grade 2 Certificate, Coast to Coast Skills, Faster Lines)

Once your course begins, you must attend each day in its entirety to continue your involvement. Courses run regardless of weather. If the weather or river-flows prevent your course from running to the original plan, your instructor will establish alternative activities in a different location. This may involve travelling farther than originally planned or using different types of kayaks, or different rivers. Canterbury Kayaking accepts no responsibility for any additional costs incurred (such as fuel, food, or accommodation) due to these circumstances. Refunds are not given due to weather, injury, equipment failure, lack of fitness or ability.

A 50% deposit per person confirms your booking. Full payment must be made 28 days before your course start date. Should you cancel your booking for any reason you will receive a full refund less a cancellation fee based on the amount of notice given:

  • More than 28 days notice before your course starts, 25% of the total course fee.
  • 28 – 14 days notice before your course starts, 50% of the total course fee.
  • If you cancel with less than 14 days notice (or during) no refund will be given.

Waimakariri Gorge Guided Trips

Waimakariri Gorge Trips can only be run in calm-weather and low-flow conditions. New Zealand is famous for its changeable weather. The significant costs and commitments in offering these trips creates a real risk for us as a small business. We know how important these trips are to our customers, so we continue to offer these trips despite knowing not all trips will run due to variable weather. A 50% deposit per person confirms your booking. In the event of your Waimakariri Gorge Trip being called off due to weather or flow conditions, you will receive a full refund, less your 50% deposit.

Full payment must be made 28 days before your trip date. Should you cancel your booking for any reason you will receive a full refund less a cancellation fee based on the amount of notice given:

  • More than 28 days notice before your trip, 25% of the total trip fee.
  • 28 – 14 days notice before your trip, 50% of the total trip fee.
  • If you cancel with less than 14 days notice (or during) no refund will be given.

Rescheduling

You may reschedule your course or trip to a new date for a fee based on the amount of notice given:

  • More than 28 days notice before your course/trip starts is free of charge for the first reschedule, then a 10% fee for each subsequent reschedule.
  • 28 – 14 days notice before your course/trip starts, 15% of the total course fee.
  • You are not able to reschedule your course/trip within 14 days of (or during) the course/trip.

Transfers

Course and trip bookings are non-transferable. Bookings are only redeemable by the individual/s listed as the “participant” during the booking process.

Cancellations by Canterbury Kayaking

Though unlikely, if we have to cancel your course, partial course, or trip due to a staff illness, logistical problem, or other unforeseeable circumstance, you will be rescheduled, or receive a refund in proportion to the number of days we were unable to provide. This will be determined by Canterbury Kayaking on a case-by-case basis. No refunds will equal more than 100% of the total course/trip fee.

Use of Kayaks & Equipment

Some courses and trips allow you to use your own kayak and/or equipment. Canterbury Kayaking accepts no responsibility for any resulting damage to your kayak or equipment during use or transport.

If you use any Canterbury Kayaking fleet kayaks or equipment during your course or trip, you will be charged a standard hire fee for the number of days used. This includes instances where your own equipment is not deemed suitable by your instructor/guide.

Canterbury Kayaking Shopping Terms & Conditions

Canterbury Kayaking’s return and exchange policy is designed to insure that our customers will be fully satisfied with the products they receive. Canterbury Kayaking does not accept returns on used gear, used kayaks, or closeout items and special orders.

Exchanging a Product

Canterbury Kayaking will gladly accept exchanges on products within 30 days of the date of purchase. You are responsible for shipping charges back to Canterbury Kayaking, however, we will cover the shipping cost for the replacement item. (Limited to 1 exchange). Paddles are oversized packages and may accrue additional re-shipping charges. All international orders, are subject to shipping charges on returns and exchanges. Shipping Damage: If you receive merchandise that is damaged during shipping refuse the shipment upon delivery (if possible) and contact us immediately. If you are unable to refuse shipment, please hold on to the original packaging for claims evidence. Used items and “special orders” are not eligible for refunds and exchanges.

Returning a Product

Canterbury Kayaking gladly accepts product returns within 30 days of the date of purchase. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Returned or exchanged items must be in new, resalable condition with all packaging and tags intact to receive full credit. Customers may be assessed restocking fees, and/or cleaning fees based on the condition of the product. Your original form of payment will be credited for the appropriate amount, less return freight (if applicable) following a satisfactory inspection. For items returned after 30 days, a Canterbury Kayaking store credit may be issued for the purchase price at our discretion. *Canterbury Kayaking will refund postage due to shipping errors and/or defective products.

Canterbury Kayaking does not accept returns on used gear, used kayaks, or closeout items.

Kayak Returns

Canterbury Kayaking does not currently accept returns or exchanges on kayaks.

Warranties

Canterbury Kayaking carries a lot of different products from dozens of different manufacturers. Canterbury Kayaking makes it a goal to only represent products from companies that stand behind their products. Warranties vary by product and by manufacture. Many manufactures handle their warranties in house and others handle them through us. Please contact us to submit a warranty application.

Cancelling your Coast to Coast Hire Booking

Canterbury Kayaking will gladly cancel your Coast to Coast kayak hire booking provided you contact us at least 4 weeks before the hire period. A cancellation charge to the value of 50% of the original hire fee will be deducted, and your original form of payment will be credited back the remainder.
